Costs - EBay Looking to Lower Upfront Costs

Costs - EBay is always trying to improve their site for the good of everyone using it. One improvement is the upfront fees that sellers have to pay for their listings. Hear what eBay has to say about those changes.

Let’s begin with fixed price sale listings, since that is where eBay began. Since the price doesn't change on these items, eBay has decided to lower the upfront fees to have them listed. The cost to list a fixed price item is 35 cents. This fee will remain the same regardless of what you sell the item for and how many of the item you are trying to sell.

Sellers now have another option for their fixed price sale listings.

After being listed for thirty days, sellers can choose an automatic renewal option to keep their products listed.

There are other fee changes for items in different categories. The fee for items like books, DVD movies, music and video games is a low fifteen cents.

Items listed for holiday sales can be listed for only five cents.

With lower upfront fees, sellers can lower their prices for these items. In turn, the buyer gets a sweet deal on quality items at a lower price.

Vehicles are also for sale on eBay. When you are trying to sell your vehicle on eBay, there will be no insertion fees charged. This new free listing is good for the first four vehicles you list for sale. This can seriously increase your competitiveness in the vehicle marketplace with a lower vehicle price for customers.

The point to lowering the upfront costs is to build a better selling edge for those making money in the eBay marketplace. Renewing multiple item listings automatically increases the exposure of that seller's goods. Buyers will be able to find similar items or more of the same again if they want, since the listing will be renewed.

EBay looks at the demographics and statistics pertaining to the trends in buying on the site. Every bit of information is used to influence changes that benefit sellers who want to know how to make more money on the site. It is usually additional fees on auction sites that drive up the cost of the merchandise. A business owner has to make money off of their transactions to survive.

With the fee changes, you can list more of the same item at once.

For example, ten VCRs or DVD players for one fee instead of a fee per item listed.

Imagine how much better your sales will be.

This is only the beginning of the changes. EBay is sure to find other ways for sellers to make their mark on the site that result in better processes all across the site.
